These awards were from the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers. The big plaque is for my Chesapeake Market Hunting story, circa 1870 through 1920 and took first in outdoor writing of magazines, newspaper and electronic submissions for the northern end of the country. I used this phrase from the foreword of my upcoming waterfowl hunting book in my acceptance speech: “Hunts continue in the shadows of our ancestors who cherished and protected these lands. Now it’s our time to conserve and pass on the tradition. Waterfowl populations are a tribute to our wise use of marshes, rivers and lakes. Only our efforts will pass on this time-honored heritage, with the help of God providing another good fall flight!”
